2005 Training Camp opens Sept. 12

Nashville, Tenn. (September 6, 2005) - The 2005 Nashville Predators Training Camp will open with testing, physicals and photos on Monday, September 12 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.  The team's first on-ice practice will be on Tuesday, September 13 at 9:00 a.m. at Centennial Sportsplex.  All practices at the Sportsplex are free and open to the public.

Training camp for the Predators' eighth season will be conducted at both the Gaylord Entertainment Center and Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville from September 12-October 2.  The 53 players in camp will be divided into three groups over the first week of action (group rosters will be available at a later date), with scrimmage sessions scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 10:10 a.m.

2005 Draftees arriving early
A selection of players making their first appearance at Predators' training camp, including 2005 first-round pick Ryan Parent and three other members of the team's 2005 Entry Draft class, are scheduled to participate in additional early sessions with Predators strength and conditioning coach Dave Good.

University of Manitoba coach to serve as guest instructor
The 2005 Nashville Predators Training Camp will be presided over by the Predators hockey operations department, including coaches, scouts and support staff as well as the coaching and support staff of the American Hockey League's Milwaukee Admirals.  In addition, Nashville head coach Barry Trotz has invited University of Manitoba (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) head coach Mike Sirant to serve as a guest instructor at the camp from September 12-20.

"We're excited to have a coach the caliber of Mike Sirant bring his expertise to our camp," said Trotz. "With the changes to the NHL game that have been instituted for 2005-06, such as playing without the red line, he'll bring valuable experience from CIS university play."
