Over the course of the summer the Preds visited 12 summer camps throughout Davidson, Williamson, Sumner, and Rutherford counties. Nearly 700 kids, ages 5-12, were educated on the sport of hockey and given the opportunity to try street hockey for themselves. During the program each student learned about some of the equipment hockey players need, including a Preds jersey, gloves, skates, stick and puck. After the students learned about the equipment and Hockey 101, it was time to get in on the action. Each camper participated in a stick handling relay race, shooting demonstration, and a full court scrimmage. After the fun-filled scrimmage game, each tour visit wrapped up with a Q&A session as well as some fun Preds giveaways for the campers and staff.
As kids head back to school, the Preds Hockey Rules program will travel to Nashville area elementary and middle school physical education classes and aims to educate 1-6 graders on the fundamentals of Preds hockey and basic hockey skills. Elements may include street hockey games and equipment, skill stations, giveaway items and more. These educational fun-filled FREE clinics are conducted by the Preds Fan Development staff and provide a fun, safe way to introduce your camp to the sport of hockey and the Nashville Predators!
